Oh hey there September, where did you come from so fast!? It feels like time has really just flown by and I looked at the calendar realizing it is my birthday next week! What?! We have had three weeks home of snuggles and bliss with this new little one, many many tantrums for the older babies having adjustments to their new sister, a few solid days of organized work around the house to unpack remaining boxes since moving, then followed by what seems like more than a week of everyone taking turns having the flu/cold business. Luckily, our little miss hasn’t really been affected by it all.
The best part of fall and winter to me has always been layering clothes, the fall leaves where we can build piles and play, and cocoa in the mornings. Texas has made it hard to accomplish all our fall favorites with how warm it is and having no leaves on the ground makes you forget it is even fall here! But I haven’t let that stop me from wearing fun things like this Moss Green Maxi Dress. I wore this during my second trimester being pregnant and absolutely loved the way it fit over my big belly! ( I love it even more now that I can wear it around the house and feel comfy).
Today I thought I would share in this post “5 ways to feel your best as a new mom” because it is so hard to feel motivated to get dressed in something semi nice and go about the day when you know puke will somehow make its way to that nice outfit in 5 minutes or less. Haha been there….In this dress in fact…
1.Shower mama, you deserve it.
You take care of a baby (or more) all day and deserve a quick shower to decompress from the stress. Take a minute and jump in the shower, wash off the puke stains and feel a little ready for the day.
2. Do you wear makeup? Well put mascara on and really amp up the day!
Even if mascara is the only thing I wear that day, I feel a little more motivated to get going on chores and playing.
3. This one is my biggest enemy…Get dressed…
It is SOOOO DANG HARD to motivate myself to get dressed in something more than sweats and a t-shirt when I know I am home all day and WILL end up being thrown up on from the baby. But the days I have gotten somewhat dressed in something I feel awesome in, I have the best days with the kids and am more happy with myself! Try it once this week!
Oh and I am totally guilty of being in sweats all day and a couple hours before my husband gets home, I have thrown on jeans and a nicer shirt…Because lets be honest, I am totally wearing all of his shirts so mine doing get ruined when the baby barfs on me (shh, he is still wondering why he goes through so much laundry!)
4. Have a burp rag hand at all times, and a plan for the day.
If I can sit each night mapping out my “game plan” for the next day, it goes so much more smoother for everyone! But honestly, it has been the biggest transition with three kids and we are STILL trying to find our “balance”. (If there is such a thing with three!)
But a plan can make all the difference!
5. The fifth thing to feel your best as a new mom?
Do things at YOUR OWN PACE. We are all surrounded by friends and family who do things differently than us. It doesn’t matter! Do things at your pace because YOU are the mom and whether you are a new mom or a new mom of 5, you need to find balance for you.
Like I mentioned above, I have zero balance right now, but I have found these 5 things have helped tremendously the past three weeks. Especially the getting ready one. Everything else will come. If I can go about my day comfy and most likely wearing this same dress 4 days in a row I will! Side note on the dress: I got this dress awhile ago but just saw it is now on sale because it was a “summer dress”. I think it is both summer and fall!
